Nightly Tradition

On Valentine's Day Night (Shane's Birthday) 2009, Levi did his darndest to
stay awake. He is the funniest kid....he hates to go to bed, and so he goes to
bed in our bed (after reading to me, snuggling, and so forth) then after he falls asleep, Shane (or Landon, if Shane is still at the office during tax season) carries him into HIS bed. I know that we spoil him, but we did something similar for every kid. Liesl would lay in my bed, Landon was rocked in the Lazy-Boy chair every night (sometimes for hours), and I (or Shane) actually went into Lexis' bed and to lay down with her until she nodded off. Levi is our last baby, and he is 8 years old now, and won't be able to be carried that much longer (he is just about as big as Shane or Landon right now!), so we won't have that "company" before bed that much longer. That is a bittersweet thought. As much as we might complain, (which really isn't alot!), we really love having that little guy (and all of his siblings who feel left out if not included in the "slumber party" tradition) to connect with every night before bed. Nothing is as soft and comforting as the little hand that reaches out to be "tickled" as we snuggle. I guess that we'll just have to continue the tradition, except that they will just have to walk themselves into bed every night (after the ritual in Mom and Dad's room!). (And yes....we ARE very much looking forward to grandkids carrying on the "tradition"!)
